New MC - no pressure
« on: September 26, 2007, 07:15:21 AM »
Installed a new MC, but can't get any pressure.

I'm using a speed bleeder, and I can get some brake fluid out, but not much, and only when I keep the lever squeezed (almost like gravity is doing it more than the lever).

Repeated sqeezing doesn't force more out.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem when I installed a brand new master cylinder and speedbleeder at the same time.  I almost sent it back thinking it must have a bad seal.

I ended up using my old stock bleeder until I felt some slight pressure at the handle, then (quickly without losing too much fluid) re-installed the speed bleeder.  The manual bleeder worked better to get the system primed, after that the speedbleeder worked great.  I think the little check valve in the speedbleeder needs some differential pressure across it to start working.

I'll try that tonight.

Thanks!
