Honda CB 750K Starter help
« on: September 26, 2007, 04:48:40 PM »
I was trying to remove the starter cover on my 750 and I dropped the bolts that held the cover down in the cavity where the starter is!

I will have to remove the starter now to get the bolts out from under the starter.  Anyone know easiest way to get in there and what tool to use?

I was trying to figure out where to attach a jumper line to to attempt to bypass my electrics to see if the motor turns over.  Anyone?

ONE MORE QUESTION...

Is the compartment under the starter open into the case, or is it closed making the bolts I dropped safe to not fall into the case?

I am not a mechanic so don't laugh too loud at my questions (this bike is my learning experience).

How would you get at the bolts to get the starter out and what would you use?

It is a pretty small space under the carbs fighting with the drain lines.

Also. if i want to attach a wire to the power on the starter, where is it?

You should be able to get the bolts out using a magnet. Also, if the cable is ok theres no need to mess with the starter. The starter cable runs from the starter to the solenoid behind the left side cover. That is where you need to jump it.

My buddy once dropped a nut into his Norton's head. I suggested turning bike upside down and shaking it out.
It worked.

If you going to take the starter out all the way. I found it easiest to remove the alternator cover. To put it back on you will need to lube the rotor and cover with oil so it slides on easy. If you don't need the nuts theres really no harm in having them stay in there. You could always just get replacements. ;)
