Topic: Will a dohc fender fit on a sohc?

As I am starting to peice together my project bike a '71cb750k1, I am wondering if I can fit a dohc front fender ('80 model or so)? I like the lower profile look of these fenders with out the fender braces. Has anyone done this?

I happen to like the 79-80 cb750F front fender also as it hugs the front wheel nice and close. I had one I bolted to a SOHC fender mount. The Fender is plastic so it will need some kind of brace underneath. Currently it is in my attic and I didn't have much road time on it before I decided to ditch it all together. I never tried to bolt the fender to the stock forks, but from what I can see the front forks on my brother's 79 DOHC F and my 78 DOHC F are pretty similar.

Stay away from the later 81-82 front fenders, that little spoiler on the front fender  looks gay on these older bikes.

ok from what I can see on evilbay it looks as though the fender mount hole locations are different. I wonder if the width is about the same so you could just drill new mount holes?

   I tried this a couple of years ago and found out that the fender mounts are different. I don't remember if the holes in the fork lowers are located differently or if the fender mount/brace was a different length...or both. The fender would hit the tire before the holes would line up. I decided that the best way to mount a dohc fender on sohc forks was to attach the dohc fender to a sohc fork brace. I haven't done it yet...just another of those things I'll get around to someday.

I wonder if there is enough material on the dohc fender mount to make new holes to lign up with the sohc forks?

 Nope. The dohc fender rests on the tire before the holes are close.
