Hello from Northern VA
« on: September 30, 2007, 04:37:33 PM »
Hello all,

My name is Judd, I'm 23 and have been riding for about 5 years now.  I started out on a 91 Suzuki GS500 then just picked up a new Kawi Ninja 250R to use to commute to and from work.

I'm here on the forums because my parents just moved to a new house out in the country and while I was helping them move stuff we found a fairly nice (pretty dirty) CB500.  According to the guy my parents bought the house from the bike hadn't been run since 94 so I begged my dad to let me tinker with it to try to get it running.  After rebuilding the carbs and cleaning out the gas tank and putting a new battery in it, I got the thing to kick over and idle for a minute before dying.  It seems it's not getting gas but thats a whole new post.  After seeing some potential in the bike my dad (of course!) wanted it back so he could try to restore it.  After playing with that one I wanted one of my own to restore.  So here I am... currently looking for a CB500 or 750 of my own.

My interests aren't just motorcycles though.  I'm also restoring a 73 VW Beetle, 73 VW Thing, and 75 BMW 2002 (unfortunately not a Tii...).  I'm hoping to find a decent running CB500 to do my rolling resto on and enjoy the classic bikes as much as the classic cars!

Anyway - Just wanted to throw up an introduction post and also wanted to say that even though my tinkering with my dad's bike was limited to a few hours, this site has already helped me a lot!  Usually I try to stay away from forums because, at least with some of the car ones I've been on, people are more interested in picking apart your project than actually helping you.  However, so far this seems like a great group that just wants to enjoy riding the classic CB's and keeping them on the road!

Welcome from DC...

I looked for quite a while till I found mine.  They don't seem to show up here for a reasonable price very often.  Search the Philadelphia craigs list-  I seems that they crop up there, more than here.  That is if you have a way to transport it.

Judd,

Welcome from Burke, Va.
There was a cb750 with a for sale sign
along the Rt. 50 access rd  about 2 miles inside the beltway.
N. side.
This was a few months ago. I'll look next time I go by.

I have a 75 CB750F--which means rear disc brake among other things.

Click on the pic.
