Beautiful riding today!!!
« on: October 07, 2007, 08:02:32 PM »
What a beautiful, glorious day it was to ride today!  Took the CB550 out for a spin.  Started out near the George Washington Bridge, took the Palisades Interstate Parkway north up to Bear Mountain.

After Bear Mountain, I took Seven Lakes Drive over to 17S (the only mildly unpleasant part of the whole trip) back down to NJ.

I saw a pretty CB650 up at Bear Mountain today, too.  Anybody from here?

The whole ride was a little over 100 miles, including stops at every scenic overlook.  The ride took about 5 hours, because I stopped at every enjoyable spot along the way!

CB550 performed flawlessly the whole time.  She never missed a beat.  Not too shabby for a 30 year old bike.  She was also the oldest bike I saw on the road the whole day.

Sounds like a great ride. You didn't see me but I was riding today too (in KY). I only went about 45 miles. I put the 120 main jets in last night and wanted to see if they helped. Seems like they solved about 90 percent of my problems and the rest I can get with the adjusting screw I believe  ::) I did see a few older harley"s tho but not as old as my Honda

It is pretty easy to get those jets replaced once you commit yourself, isn't it?  How's the wide open throttle response?

Amazing cloud action Sunday!  Gorgeous!  Perfect temps, too. Nice to wear the heavy leather again.  It just feels right.

Had to come back and take Rosie and Kathleen out in the sidecar for a short run.  A shame really...  ::)

I'm still feeling my way thru but yes it's not bad changing the main's, I didn't even pull the carbs. WOT isn't bad,but I have the pump type carb and it has a slight hesitation and the kicks in, plus the 4 into 1 pipe comes in around 4/5 k rpms and kind of feels like a passing gear. I also need to check my valves and timing. But I'm satisfied so far.

Back on topic, yes it was a beautiful here in KY til about 2:30 then it got hot(94) and not a cloud anywhere. I found 4 old bikes, 1 goldwing, 1 Triumph, 1 DOHC Honda - not sure of size and a Honda frame and motor(under a tarp) out in a field. Need to find out who owns them and see if anything is for sale. ::)

Unless it is running 25-30 degrees above normal. :-\ Heck, the weather we have been having the past few days is above normal even for July and August so I've been heading out just after sunrise and usually home by noon. Of course in 48 hours they are predicting snuggies will be needed. ;D
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
