Nice work Jimmy. It's surprising how bright the little buggers are. I'm always harping at my modern bike friends for small little lighting that's hard to see in the daylight. (from the rear especially)

Thanks Syscrush but I'm starting to think I've milked this build for WAY too long. I'm a tinkering kind of guy and love kicking about the shop but at some point you have to admit that the glory days have long passed. Time to think about starting a new build.

The Interceptor is Hall of Fame material. I remember when you started your build. It blew my mind. Back then, I was barely contemplating an 836 kit and rebuilding the forks. Now, I'm a restomod-aholic.

Do you have an idea for the new project???

I also really like the rear mount and the way that the swinger, chain, sprocket, and guard look together. The front mount looks like garbage, though. It'll be replaced with a dogbone type at some point, but not this year (and probably not next). For now, I can snap pics from strategic angles where the footrest supports obscure the ugly part.

Hey Jimmy,unless your interests have changed there is no need to stop adding to this thread. The whole point is to share ideas and information. For the most part your build is done but changing components or adding custom parts makes it all worth while.

I'm excited to see what you come up with next!

As for this bike, I have watched a lot of builds over the years where it starts out interesting, then hits a pinnacle of awesome, then gets ruined by someone who just doesn't know when to quit. This is not one of those builds.

Thanks for your support and encouragement Gents. I'm glad you're not getting bored to tears after all these years. Sometimes it just seems like incremental details for the sake of tinkering but I still get a lot of satisfaction from even the smallest change. Don't worry though, my interests haven't changed. The Interceptor has been a great journey and I've learned a lot along the way. Spring is knocking at the door so I'll be out enjoying another season on the bike so keep an eye open for a ride video or two.

After next winter I'll call it complete! There’s just one more item to tackle. Arguably the most significant to date.

C5 Multi-Spark Ignition first ride impression.
This ignition is one of the best upgrades I've done. Here's why. I've been screwing around with jetting and getting mixed and inconsistent results since installing CR26 carbs. It's been a long and frustrating (costly too) process that had me wondering if these carbs would ever be more than a finicky WOT setup but they are. Prior to the C5 ignition I was running a Pamco electronic ignition, Dyna 5ohm coils and Accel copper core wires with NGK caps. Thought it was fine till I changed. With the C5 ignition the bike idles and cruises around town like never before. Throttle response is crisp and clean with strong acceleration all the way to redline. Very happy.

Couple of other questions about the C5:
- how was install and setup?
- happen to notice any change at voltage at lower RPMs?
- do you have any historical info on mileage to compare against? (Maybe you've never cared, but it would be interesting now that your Cr-26s are behaving)

The install was pretty straight forward Cal.
Toughest part was locating TDC to static time the optical trigger disc. I had to get my degree wheel and piston stop out because the C5 ignition replaces the stock advance unit and there goes the timing marks. I do have pretty good fuel consumption data from last season. Will compare as soon as I get a few rides with this setup to collect sufficient data. Interesting I had to run 65 pilot jets to get decent idle with the Pamco ignition and as soon as I fired it up with the C5 it was puffing black on throttle blips. Had to open up the air screw a full turn until I could change the pilots to 60. Haven't collected voltage data yet either but I'm running all LED's and nothing else so I'm sure I'll be fine.
