had the pods wrapped in tape all the way up still nothing , really starting to piss me off . i've tried uping the idle jets , returning them to stock... moving the needle up and down ..still nothing

i give up .... i'm puttin the airbox back on

Will it start with the choke on? Mine won't, however if I squirt some starting fluid in the carbs and then pull the choke all the way it starts and idles at like 7k then if I let the choke up the idle drops and will keep doing that until it dies.. So I am getting closer, however I was wondering if yours is having he same issue.

Not to ask the obvious, but did you check your timing? Compression? Flugle valve-stopper? Expansion joint bearing? Wallet? Ballsack?

Might be your exhaust bearings..... On a more helpful note what is your bat volts at? I know if my bats real low kick or no it won't get a hot enough spark to start.

I think a lot of people do! It can still be a PITA with the airbox ON.

Just not as much of one.

I hate the airbox on mine. It can take 45+ minutes just to get the darn breather hose back on on my ride.

i had put the air screws 3 turns out (as advised on a different forum) .. turned them in 1 1/2 turns,

and i also had the floats slightly off (+/-1mm) .. fixed that , and my brother pointed out that my carb vents were plugged by the PO using a piece of fuel line to connect them together ... that one just flew right under my radar, i thought it had something to do with equalizing the vacuum between the carbs
anyway, so i did all the above mentioned things , sprayed a lil ether in there

similar yes ..

it would start and idle at like 4 or 5k , for maybe 10 seconds then die ... it's still far from dialed in , but at least it runs now , so putting the puzzle together get's easier ..

while it was running i grabbed the timing light and fourshot checked that real quick , and according to him it was "dead on" so no worries there .
just gotta mess with the air screws a little i think , do some tuning by ear... once i get it close , then sync them ...... hopefully by then all the other bikes will be ready for a carb sync as well and i can do the whole lot at once (Phil hint, hint)

Yea, I thought the same thing, however after lots of "dialing in" its no better. For me I think I just have bad carbs, it could be the timing is off I have checked yet. I did notice that I don't have points so not sure if that will make it better or worse to tune.

Keep us posted man, sounds great tho!! Also, don't forget I have a carb sync tool if you want to borrow it..

I'm sure this has been thought of before but umm dude your a wiz at fabricating stuff up can't you adapt another set of carbs to it. Like say the older cb carbs or even a webber or (hears the cringing) even a HD that you can tune and make work easier.

I just have to set all the float heights, install the #2 pilot needle(and spring,don't ask.....I dont want to get into it

) into suki's rack then reassemble the bikes.

ok i'm finally there ... after two years of lack of funds and just general "banging head on workbench" i finally got to take my KZ for a ride around the neighborhood .. just side streets (no plates) so i didn't even get to 4th let alone 5th gear .. but the verdict is

...it's not the fastest,but it is definitely fast or the most nimble (needs some tuning in the steering and front suspension) , but it has a great cool factor and the riding position is perfect for tooling around or tuckin' in .. think i'm gonna really like this one ...... and i was so incredibly close to giving up and selling it

updates :
figuring the carbs was a nightmare , haven't done any plug chops yet , but it seems be running strong
140 main jets , pilot jets back to stock , idle screws 2 1/2 turns out , needle at 2nd notch from the bottom ..

the front end seemed pretty squirrely , but i can't remember if i ever changed or even checked the fork oil , so that just got added to the list

but other than that , IT"S $%#@! DONE MAN ... ok i gotta go pump out some of this adrenaline

Hope you can take it back. I have one and hate it. Had to do the repair kit once. Hard to keep the fluid in the tubes. Easy to become un level. Then your sync blows.

I have the vacuum one too. I like that one better.

I have used the older Morgan Carb-tune. I was fine with that one.

really? .. i had the gauges Zap posted and didn't care for them .. the motion pro one is a bit more work with having to sync the tool THEN sync the bike .. but i like it

1)How did the front brake feel?

2)Did you try it with the snuffers open or closed?

I'm interested to hear if there was a big difference.

the front brake worked pretty good , i'm happy with it

and i didn't even think to open the snuffers and go back out

he exhaust pressure is so strong , it pushes the snuff r nots open..not everytime, but it still happens ... gotta figure out a better mounting for them
