Riding in Japan -Aizu, Bandia Koegen Sept 2007
« on: October 16, 2007, 01:35:58 PM »
I know some of you like to know about my travels to Japan and this year I only had one weekend to go bike riding with my biker friend, Yuri. It was a long weekend and we decided to go to Aizu which is 5-6 hours by motorcycle from Tokyo. There is a festival there every year to commemorate 19 young samurai who killed themselves in the last days of the Boshin Civil War in 1868 when they thought they saw their castle burning (it wasnt and they died for no reason but that dosent stop them from being seen as heroes in Aizu). This is also the location/period where the movie "The Last Samurai" was based on. There really were samurai who fought against government troops to the bitter end. Anyway we went to see the Annual festival of samurai walking through the town.

Ill update the text later but for now here are a couple of videos of our drive through the mountains returning from our day out in Aizu to our accomodation where an outdoor natural hot spring bath was waiting for us  ;D.

cheers
Andy

Funny Andy,
It does look much different to New England except YOU"RE RIDING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!
You'll have to let me know if the ZXR was comfortable.
Best and thanks,
Ben
