Floods.
« on: November 08, 2007, 10:04:05 PM »
Early this year half of England was under water.

The news coming in is that, in the next hour we could have the worst flooding for 50 years.

God knows what's coming.

It's only on the south east coast. A storm coupled to a very high tide has started to breach sea defences.
Thousands have been evacuated over night.

Hi Sam,
Did it get as bad as some are predicting? I know that here in Holland they had inspections all night on the flood defenses and they actually closed down some major flood defense mechanisms!
Now it appears that wasn't nearly as bad as they predicted, but then again better save then sorry.
Gr.

Looks like we got away with it. The tidal surge was about 8" lower than expected.
There were some breaches of the sea defences but the flooding was not to bad.

That'd be bloody right, England has an excess of water (but not much soap, I hear) and it's so dry here in Oz after 7 years of drought, I'm not allowed to water my lawn! It's so bad we have to wash the dog shiite off the sidewalk with imported English beer!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I love it when two British subjects mix it up whilst(damn I wish we kept that word) we Yanks sit on the sidelines.

Samer, haven't I told you a million times not to exaggerate?!

I was in the San Francisco quake of '89...
Then we have a flood here 2 years ago.
Boss almost lost the whole business.  The cats survived by sittng on some bookshelves, but they sure were mad !  (and hungry)
Mother nature is very scary.  I think this global warming stuff that most Rebublicans don't believe in is going to kick all our butts eventually.

I'm glad you're OK.
