I saw a CB350F in pretty much stock (except aftermarket pipes), parked outside condition on Shrader Street in San Francisco.  No pics, sorry.  Also saw a few other SOHC/4 bikes on my short visit here - a CB750 with a white tank near the Moscone Convention Center and another CB750 on Cole near Haight.

I made a point of leaving a note with the website address, so if the owners aren't already members, they might be sometime soon.

I tell SOHC/4 bikers where ever I see them about the site too.
never thought of leaving a note though, I think I'll print off a few wee cards with the site on it and keep them with me.

Glenn, didn't ya learn at the Meet & Greet last August that all the #$%*in' SOHC's are across the bridge in the East Bay  ???    If you ever make it back for a "medium" or "long" visit, we'll be sure to put ya in a saddle and take ya "backroad bug hunting" ;D

I was really sorry to make the trip across country and not get to meet up with some or all of the folks I met in '06.  But, I came in by train to San Fran (well Emeryville) late Saturday night, was at a conference (one of the 40,000+ at Oracle Open World) from about 8:30am until 7:00pm every night and then flew out at 6am on Thursday.  If it weren't for the fact that I had spent the previous week away from home (Salt Lake City), I'd have set up a free day or two this trip to actually enjoy myself.  Next time I'll bring the family and we'll spend more time out there which my wife, since she lived more than 15 years in Northern California, would enjoy a lot.  Before the end of 2008, for sure.

here is one i spied in stockholm, sweden on our trip in early september 07

front tire tread pattern seems odd... how does the one big asymmetrical gash thru the pattern benefit anything?

just a modern sport tyre isn't it? when banked over pushes the water out to the side and back

All my front tires have always looked like that, heff...

I always get the more modern looking sport touring tires though, so maybe that's it.

so let me get this straight... the water is supposed to be taken out from under the tire and then put back there again?  oh wait malcolm... i just reread what you said and maybe your back meant to the rear... but, if you look at what part of the gash/rain removal trough hits the ground first it is the rear so, it would actually squish the water forward.

i'm guessing it's not for rain removal at all but, rather, to break up the center groove down the center of the tire to "settle down" the front trying to wobble because of the center groove.  many, if not most, sport bikes don't like center groove tires for this reason and bikes fitted w/ tires not having a center groove will often see better steering and handling characteristics.

and, dan...every tire you've ever owned has one asymmetrical tread veering off to one side of the bike w/ no others in sight... meaning there may be another 2 or 3 on the remainder of the tire.  you sir, are drawn to weird tires  :P

either way... it was a comment to stimulate conversation and see what people thought  ;)

I'm not sure what you are seeing heffay but I see a centre grooves to clear water when bike is upright, and grooves either side of centre for when bike is banked left/right these would force water out to the side and backwards. They need to be angled that way so water is forced away from tyre and not back into the tyre, because the angled grooves are not cut into the centre groove the pressure build up would ensure water always moved away from the tyre. The simple design allows more rubber to be in contact with the ground allowing better grip and wear.
This is my understanding of modern tyre design.
Hope this makes sense as I am hopeless at trying to explain things that are clear in my mind.

A couple months ago my clutch cable on my 550 broke on my way home from work.  A buddy of mine happened to be in the area with his trailer, which is not my normal luck BTW.  So we are trailering it home down Greenfield ave and I saw a guy on a 750 waiting to turn onto Greenfield around 65th street (I assume it was not anyone here).  I stuck my arm out the window and pointed at him in a way that he would notice I wanted to get his attention.  He just stared until he realized what I was pulling behind me.  Got the big SOHC thumbs up from him.  ;D

Not too many of us here in Harley town, so we tend to notice each other.  ;)

I saw one today. Good day for a ride so I, someone, parked it where I, er someone could get a good picture of it. First good pic of it since I, er someone finished it last year. I rarely see other single 4's so this is my contribution for now...  8)
