Heres my new bike. It was red and hopefully will be again. Needs a good cleaning to run but wants too. Fuel goes in and straght to the ground. Theres some crud in the tank and i cant figure out how to get the petcock off. It doesnt seem threaded like my other bikes. Im trying to post some pics. Hope it works.

Sweet! Another 350f!

You can get the petcock off by unscrewing the bowl and then unscrewing the two screws holding it to the tank.

Not unless you're spending the day going through the carbs.  Those "stuck open" float valves sound like just the beginning.

Good luck. Nice bike. I love the 350s. Rare, I've never seen one on the road here in KY. I bet they sound cool about 7K w/wot + a nice pipe.

Almost done the carbs. Trying to un plug 2 of the slow jets now.Even after a 24hr soak theyre still plugged.

well its running and those pipes are LOUD.. I bench synced the carbs with a wd40 straw and it wont allow me to let it idle under 1800 rpm. there isnt any more adjustment on the idle screw. Ill get the tank off tomorow and adjust maybe a half turn at a time till i get a better idle. First im gonna ride it the way it is.

When I did (degunked) my 350F carbs the slides were stuck too. There seems to be a tight tolerance where the slide meets the bottom of the "slide chamber" on the carb. If you've had it apart, you'll know what I mean. Mine had some crud in there that kept the slides from returning fully to the bottom (Idle).

Could also be cables or linkage adjustment...

+1, I would disconnect the throttle cables alltogher and see if it drops.

Well ive turned the idle mixture screws back one turn. Hoping that will still be fairly even and the bike was back on the chart. adjusted idle to 1200 no prblem. Great throttle response revs real high and drops like  a stone back to 1200 rpm. BUT on the road it wont turn over 6k and its sluggish . pull the clutch going down the road and shell wind right up. let out the clutch back to sluggish. my carbs have one fuel line in on a swivel bar towards the mouth. above that are two lines like my 550 that seperate right and left that are open. should they be plugged? what are they? my clymer manual isnt much help. plugs looked good maybe a little lean. My petcock flow doesnt seem real strong could that cause it to feel starved?oh well new plugs tommorow and more searching this excellent web site. thanks for all the info

could a little water in my tank cause this problem of sluggish under load yet crisp and great sounding when in the garage or a stoplight? I set  the cam chain and the valves sound fine as it will rev to 7k in a flick in the garage. on the road if i milk the throttle at about 3/4 open it will SLOWLY start to gain rpms. Air screws are at 1 turn out and bike is lean. out =more air =lean? Im off for new plugs and water removal additive

Sounds like the mains might still be plugged a little in the carbs to me. Also check the carb boot clamps, ....and lean is out on those screws.
Some tricks I use to tell if it's lean or rich:
 Take the air filter and lid off and try driving it, if it's worse than she's lean
 Now put the filter and lid back on and start adding choke while driving. Only a little at a  time, if it starts to get better, this also means it's lean as well.

You want to make sure your ignition is up to snuff before chasing a lean condition though. Points can also do that sort of thing  ;D

Thanks Matt. Sure enough one of the mains was plugged.. So
I cleaned them and the tubes again and its much better.
