New guy on block
« on: November 28, 2007, 12:03:36 PM »
I'm new when comes to anything dealing with motorcycles but my son is going to motorcycle tech school here in NC and he got me interested in bikes.  Thought it might be good thta he and I to build a chopper since that is his ultimate goal.  I like the idea of using a cb 750 SOHC from what I read on the internet.  So, we bought a barn find.  A 1970 CB 750.  Trying to learn how to chop from different forums and printed materials.  We hope to learn a lot from you guys!

Hello from Indiana. I'm with Duster. Unless this is a real mess don't start cutting on a classic.

+++1  :'( :'( :'( ...not a 70
 You could sell the 70 model and buy a nice later model to work with.

Anyway, welcome to the forum  ;)

Welcome to the forum.

Don't mind the fact that we're an opinionated lot.  We're really friendly.    :)

Feel free to ignore advice or opinions you don't agree with like "don't chop the bike"

Good luck to you and your projects.

Cheers!

I'll have to post a photo so you can see the shape it is in.  I think only thing useable is engine and frame.  Rusty wheels, rotted seat, gauges look broken, rust on forks, etc.  If were in better condition, I might be able to restore but got the chopping itch!

Wondered how long it would take you to notice. ;D

Just kidding of course. Wouldn't mind a vintage Harley. ;)

+1

There are frames currently being made specifically for a chop. That is if you want to do a real chop.
