iPod and Tunestor?
« on: December 17, 2007, 07:20:19 PM »
My wife recently bought me an iPod. Now I happily wash the dishes, while listening to lectures or music. I just got Shure E2C earphones to try under my helmet when riding.

Here's the question. I want to download lectures that are on the internet as MP3 files. There's a free application called Tunestor (?) that allows one to download directly to iTunes for the iPod.

Anyone doing this, or something like it? How well does it work? How simple is it?

Thanks!

Does it connect directly to the lecture website to download them, or is it just an application to put the MP3s into iTunes?  (cause it would be much easier to download the lecture MP3s and put them into iTunes yourself...)

I just got the Etymotic earbuds, and they work AWESOME!  The 650 basically has open pipes, and the earbuds work well enough that I can easily understand a book on tape at 70mph, even at a volume level that is comparable to conversational speech (i.e. not blaring and destroying my ear drums).  It was a tossup between the Shures and the Etymotics, though...  I'm interested to know how the Shure earbuds fare.

Apparently Tunestor directly takes the MP3 file from the internet and puts it right into iTunes.  Otherwise, as I understand it, I have to first download the file to my computer, then move it manually into iTunes.  I tried that once or twice today, but didn't get it.  ???

I used the E2C earphones today for the first time.  The Etymotics were $$$ !  Anyway, the Shures sounded very good riding in town about 40 mph.  I have yet to get up to real speed and see how they do.  Putting the helmet on over the earphones knocked them loose a little from jiggling the ear as the helmet slides on.  It was still very cool to clearly hear my iPod while I rode.  Now I have to be careful not to get distracted!

Today was test day.  I also wore my new Widder vest for the first time.  Man, that thing gets toasty!  It still remains to be seen what it will be like on extended highway rides.

Either way you have to download it before you can put it onto your ipod Doc.

If you have itunes selected as your default music player it will automatically find any mp3s you download and add them to your library, from there it's easy to get them onto your ipod.
