Thanks for the comments guys, makes it all worthwhile ;D

I think the whit is a bity overpowering at the moment, but I'm having some K0 style decals cut in the same colour as the frame which should tone it down a little
About the front fender, I did consider turning it round on the brace, as Terry suggested, but I really want a painted plastic one to balance the tank and side covers, besides which that one is in really good condition and it would be a shame to butcher it, one day it could just be the part somebody wants to complete their stock rebuild :)
I picked up a selection of 70s and 80s fenders from various jap bikes to try from a breaker friend of mine on Saturday, on condition that I return the ones I don't use, I've just got to pick through them :D

I'm undecided about the wheels at the moment, they were that colour when I bought them, and my original plan was to paint them black, but the gold sort of goes with the red and white.
I'll make a final decision after the engine has been painted.  It's coming out over Christmas and travelling down to BryanJ's place for a rebuild and the fitting of that MRieck head 8)

Actually, white mudguards sound about right and I think may give a more classic look.

It dawned on me the color combo you have now is vaguely reminiscent of the 1968 F1 Lotus Gold Leaf red, white, and gold  livery. Although it spelled the beginning of the end of international colors and the birth of rolling billboards I thought the Lotus colors were striking.

I considered 'spelt' versus spelled and 'colours' rather than, well you know... but the spell check function is already having fits! :D

Just scrolled back up to the photo, and it's a good job I did.  It reminded me that the Golf's windows are still open and the driver's seat is in the middle of the drive :o
