I probably should have began posting to this forum when I began rebuilding my '77 CB750F, last winter. But, I learn best the hard way (burning up a camshaft and disassembling the motor 3 times).
My infatuation with classic hondas began a year in half ago, (shortly after I crashed my '95 CBR1000F twice in a month
) I told my dad I intended to sell the CBR and would like to find a classic honda scooter.
My dad replied, "Let call my dad I think he's still got the old Super Cub I learned to ride on". Jackpot!! I immeadietly begin surfing the net to find all I could about this "Super Cub". After quizzing my dad and scouring the net I found out the one to be mine was a C102 '61 or '62. A month later I drove to Chicago and picked up my new ride and set to work.
Tore it apart and cleaned it
Banged out the rear fender
Ordered new front fender from Thailand
New cables
Cleaned carb
New seat (not shown)
It was perfect for cruising around St. Paul, but I was ready to graduate to something a little bigger.
Enter 77' CB750F
Picked this up for 300 from a guy Minneapolis.
It turned out the head was blown (broken rockers and burned camshaft)
I fully rebuilt the engine (twice), burned a camshaft, probably due to the same oil blockage that caused the first head to blow.
Powder coated the frame and rebuilt just about everything then painted and polished and added many new and used parts.
It's a decent enough running machine (for my first full rebuild).
It's still lacking some cosmetics though.
While working on the 750 I found this cb125s with a burned clutch and bad points, but otherwise beautiful bike.
So there you have it. I'm currently tuning my cb750f and keeping my eyes peeled for side covers while thinking about a new project. Maybe an all out custom 750. Who knows?
