BOTM Forum / Staying Or Going?
« on: January 11, 2008, 09:03:21 PM »

I feel that the BOTM is a good tool and brings to light the bikes that have been nominated to be voted on. Sometimes these great bikes have been revived, modified or had what ever done to them, only to possibly be forgotten by some of us and the BOTM forum allows them to be brought back into the spotlight to be admired, scrutinized or whatever and voted on. Gotta say that our group has an overwhelming number of fantastic bikes and their condition reflects the efforts of their owners. Feel free  to vote which ever way you see fit and make your comments accordingly. ;)

I agree with you, Bill. As long as there are nominations I say let's keep at it.

I always enjoyed it myself, but considering the number of members we have, only a very small percentage ever voted. :-\
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Ive noticed the BOTM slowing down some since I first saw it a year or 2 ago. Maybe the selection of machines is a problem. Ill vote for a bike once its been nominated but to search members profiles looking for one particular bike is too time consuming. IMO. Maybe we could build a BOTM pool thread consisting of members submitted pix. There could be a little information included with the pic about the bike, or not. That would be up to its owner. This idea could be expanded on but I think it could go somewhere...  8)

Not a bad idea actually. I agree with the reasons why as well. Maybe, as a bike is declared a winner, we could delete it from the "pool thread," leaving only future, possible contenders. ???

I think you all have got a plan going. Sure would be good to keep it going and the threads (the nomination & Voting ) need to be done in a timely manner also. We've got some Awesome bikes here (and members, as well) and we need to recognize them as such. ;)

I definitely don't want to see it go away.  Things wax and wane.  Holidays will pull peoples' attention away.  I think there are too many good projects going that will be future Bikes of the Month to scrap it.  And there are still alot of great bikes I'd like to see win.  Like Paulages bike.  And the one he's building once it's done.  And Rob Lloyd's 550 and Mikeb4's F.  And of course I'd like a shot once my projects are done.

If people aren't paying enough attention, you just have to advertise it more.  A sticky reminder thrown into the SOHC bikes forum.  And mods bumping it so it stays in our recent unread topics list.

Has No One noticed that, as we speak, it is now the 12TH OF JANUARY and we DON'T actually HAVE a NOMINATION THREAD? Voting is supposed to start on the 16TH and that leaves us "FOUR" days! Some good ideas have come out of this , but we really need to get moving. Spikeybike's is the only one nominated, are we going to use that as the nomination thread?
