I whipped up this spring holder to keep the parts in order. Springs are on pegs and the top plate hold them down when you tighten the knobs. Keepers are in little holes but I will change to little rod magnets to keep them from coming off.

Tried to get the cam lobes to show in the pic, it is an RC ENG 315.. with 310 deg duration..valve clearance is .012 thou on this one.. check ou the lobes..

Cool!

But is there a need?
Some of the springs are shorter than the others.
How does this apperatice help?

Thanks

The lengths are the same, I slid the topcover back to try to show it better. Both knobs twirled down on the cover hold the springs from moving around. I just wanted to be able to store them in a manner where they dont get knocked over and mixed up or loose the keepers.. plus a good way to pack spares to a race so you dont loose parts.

Yep, well made, and a good idea if you're rebuilding a head on any bike, and if you stamp the base plate with "Inlet 1-4" and "Exhaust 1-4" you can work out which one goes where when you re-assemble it.

I'd make it so that you could store the appropriate valve and keepers etc with each spring, if I was gonna go that far, particularly if those parts were gonna be out for a long time. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
