1978 cb750K exhaust
« on: January 26, 2008, 12:14:02 PM »
Checked the search for an answer but no luck.  Is there any particular  reason a 69to76 exhaust will not fit on a 78. I have been looking for a new exhaust but the guy says it is for 69-76.  Thought even with minor mod will it work?  Thanks Geno

They all fit the same, i have a 78F motor on a 72 header and pip works and fits fine.

What is it that is not matching or fiting up.

You are using SOHC 750 motors right

It is a SOHC 78K model that I purchased  as a project and I am just trying to get all DUCKS in a row as I plan and continue my rebuild.  I was hoping the earlier exhaust would fit cause I found one I liked but was not sure if the 76 would fit.  Glad to hear it will work.

            Thanks Geno

Only difference is early pipes fitted over spigots that bolted into the head whilst later ones diddnt have the spigot but a loose flange and half round collets on the pipe so to fit late pipes to early head remove the spigots and use later hardware
To fit early pipes to a lete head fit spigots with the early hardware.

Mounting points may or may not line up but brackets can always be made for that
