Ashes Thread (England vs Oz)
« on: April 14, 2005, 03:35:55 am »
Post your thoughts here on the upcoming titanic struggle between the current world powerhouse and the upstart colonials!

Terry - have you seen the description of cricket (usually on a tea towel) of the game "when you are out you go in and when you are in you get out..."

We may need this for our American friends when it comes to "overs", "googlies" and "middle wickets"

Cheers,  Steve  ;)

Rules of Cricket
« Reply #2 on: April 14, 2005, 03:45:12 am »
OK - found it on the web...

The Rules of Cricket
as Explained to a foreign visitor

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in, goes out, and when he's out, he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When both sides have been in and out including the not-outs, that's the end of the game.

Howzat?

Very odd, the antipideans dont seem to be biteing.

Scared of getting caught by those Googlies I guess.

By the way can you explain again how the game ends - I've still not worked out how to stay awake long enough to see that bit.

Sunshine and beer - good recipe for missing the end.

No need to bite guys. We just sit back and watch. Googlies, flippers, leg-byes, no balls (ouch), silly mid off, deep gully, deep fine leg - damn, sounds like a flesh festival. Take more than a few snide remarks about our cricketing prowess to get us upset.

That's probably their response to a "fast moving" no-hitter here in the U.S.

Actually, that's MY response to a fast moving no-hitter here in the U.S.  :)

I have to admit guys - I have never watched a live cricket match.

I have watched a live baseball match (Montreal) and uncountable real football matches.

So there we have it, a Brit who'se never been to a cricket match...

I do watch 'em on TV though (does that count?)

Well I know I'm a bit late, but I tend to look at the tech forum more than anywhere else, so my apologies Steve, Cricket is a game that we inherited from Britain, but have since mastered and of course for many years we have had the greatest cricket team in the world, bar none. Lucky Soccer is strictly for Homosexuals mate, or else we'd be into that toilet of a game as well, ha ha!

Hey "Sheep Shagger" Andy, is that your bike in your avatar? That engine looks bloody beautiful mate, how about a pic of the rest of it? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Just watching the Ausie Homosexuals playing Germany on TV, and for a load of puffs they arn't playing to bad. 2-2 at half time.

So if Andy is as good at sheep shaging as your puffs are at footy he could do it for NZ.  ;D ;D ;D
