yet another clutch question

I almost sure I have this correct but when the clutch arm is installed it hangs down in the 6 o clock position right?

The reason I'm asking is that when I install it like that it seems my cable is too long and the clutch pulls so far forward it jams in the housing.  They cable may be stretched but I just want to be sure.

Yes, 6:00 o'clock position and it should be stretching the return spring slightly.  The lever should not be traveling past 4:00 when pulled, nor returning past 6:30 when relaxed.  The return spring should prevent  returning past 6:30 position. 

If you have taken up all adjustment room at the lower lever by unscrewing the adjusting bolt counterclockwise as far as it can go, and the cable is still slack when the upper adjustment (at the handlebars) is also unscrewed to its full extent, then the cable is too long.

Sweep if you need a shorter cable motion pro makes a 2" shorter clutch cable stock and if you really need to they will custom make a cable for you.

Please note that when I say "too long" that is the cable relative to the cable sheath.  I'm not referring to the overall length of the cable.  In other words, the wire part has stretched and/or the sheath has been compressed.  With extended use, this can happen to any "length" of clutch cable.
