Rear lowering blocks question

I took advantage of my bike's downtime to get these blocks off of ebay:

I installed them so that the side that is up in the picture is down and slotted over my chain adjustment index mark area.  The problem and I'm not sure it's a problem is that there is nothing keeping them from moving up off of the swingarm resting place when the bike is raised or maybe when the bike hits a big bump?  Did I install these things wrong somehow?

No instructions so I had to try to figure it out.

 Can't tell if it would matter which way they were mounted as long as you have metal to metal where the shocks mount, so the bracket isn't holding the shock up in the air.
 
   The bracket should hit the underside of the clevis and stop it from going the wrong way if you hit a bump

 put it on the belly stand and see how far it'll extend, if you can put it on the stand and keep the tire on the ground I'd worry.

The ones I used  to run were cast I think.

I think the bolt that holds the end of the swingarm held them down, see if you can maybe weld a tab (if it is not cast)

I dont think you woiuld be able to get it on a centerstand or ride it,  without it moving around.

Thanks guys.  I keep envisioning jumping one of those San Francisco type intersections  and having the back wheel come up then down with a violent clack.  In the mean time I'll avoid San Francisco.

I think you just hit the nail on the head as to why lowering blocks are a bad idea....because you have now just added an extra joint to your suspension.  I have bought 2 cb750s with lowering blocks installed and I have removed them both that night. If you thought installing them was fun wait until you ride the bike....You'll check your swingarm bushings at least once that ride.

They have to be fastened down at the end.

 They use longer bolts than the standard Honda lower shock bolts

Terry turned me on to what I think is a better designed set on ebay and I bought them.  I'll let you all know how it turns out.

On the plus side, I lowered the front end too and the bike sits really mean.  I now have my clipons mounted at the top of the forks ABOVE the trees.  What a perfect feel and stance it has now.

You will be much better off with the others with a tab added.

These look poorly built and will move sideways, push against the bottom of the shock you will see. and they do not bolt down looks like they use a setscrew or bolt to push it down.

If anyone posted that you would get bad handling they must have these in mind..

Expense.  I've already bought progressive shocks.  If I have to I can buy them but it's not happening very soon.
