1979 Hondamatic cm400a locally for $900
« on: February 21, 2008, 09:50:03 AM »
Anytime an old bike comes up locally for not too much I get interested.  I started to pass on this because it is a twin, but then my fiancee started to think about it for her.  Honestly it looks like a nice bike.  Looking for yays/nays.

I asked about the tires and mods

"the only thing that has changed on the bike is the handle bars.  But i still have the old ones.  The exhaust have been painted at some point over the years. The tires still have good tread but they are a little old.  I did not put new tires on it when i purchased i last year.  I have put about 400 miles on the bike since ive had it and the tires seem to be holding up fine. there are no signs od dryrot on either the front or rear tire.  If something happens that i still have the bike this summer, they are good enough that i will through the summer on them.  the bike is not mint but i think its is in really good condition for the year."

I would go for something else, but I wasn't all that thrilled with my 400t.

I like my 1981 400t, but I think $900 is a little high. Mine sounds
in similar shape to that one, better in some ways, worse in others
and I paid $600 last summer.
