The Pogues

Just wanted to let everyone, who is interested, know that I went to a Pogues show last night and Shane MacGowan is still alive. Barely ;D

Really :o

I'm stocked and shunned ;D  I saw them about ten years or so ago and he looked like he was at death's door then :)

I think he traded his teeth for a new liver.  Couldn't understand a word he said all night but the singing got much better as the show went on and it was a really good show.  Glad I saw him before he kicks the bucket but people have been saying that for a decade.  I think he is pickled by now so he could live forever.

He and Keith Richards should form a band and call it Cheating Death.

OMG, that is actually shocking.  Are they gonna be touring in eastern states?  I freaking love the Pogues.  As for MacGowan, how much of an alky do you have to be to get kicked out of an Irish punk band?  That's crazy.  I so hope I get to see them play live before he goes on another bender.

Their web page has all the tour dates. I know they are going to NY or maybe they were already there.  Not sure.

#$%*, I missed 'em.  They're playing like 20 minutes from my house Sunday and Monday, and tickets are totally sold out.  Man, this sucks.  Anyone know a good scalper?

check stub hub or eBay.  Overpriced but all indications point to this being the last time they tour.  Not only is Shane close to death but I think all the members now remember why they fired him the first time.

Saw them last year (I think?  time gets away from me) at the 9:30 club in DC.  He drank what I think was the most enormous gin and tonic during the show, and chugged a whole bottle of rose during the finale.

Couldn't understand half of what he said.

F'n great night.

Ah yes, here it is-  March 2006.

Sorry this is not from youtube, so I don't know how to post it within this message.  Still, worth clicking on the link...

Last night we discovered the well hid teleprompter he was using to remember the lyrics.
