Plastic Light Lens Restoration
« on: August 09, 2005, 08:58:34 AM »
Just though I would share something that worked well for me. The brake/directional lenses on my K0 are the original Stanley's. The front lens look like they kissed some pavement some time in the past. How they didn't crack is beyond me, but they were left with some nasty scratches and abrasions bordering on gashes. I've seen replacements on eBay, but they were after-market. I was tempted to get some but thought I would try to restore the ones I had first.

Started with 400 wet/dry, then 1000 wet/dry and finished up with rubbing compound. They turned out far better than I imagined they would. It would take very close inspection to see any difference.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

hi mcpuffett
wemoto have them in stock about the same price but they are not stanleys and if in good condition original is always better i think still doing my voyage of discovery on the old girl shes been droped at least twice in her life once either side but no lasting damage just bits like the lens and two flats ground on the lever ball ends

it will happen mick when the prices go up just look at the old triumphs nortons and such they can find people to make nearly any thing for a price and they happily pay it our bikes will go the same way its already started in the states with the sandcasts just give it time
