earlier CB750 K side caps on K7?
« on: March 25, 2008, 08:29:28 AM »
Is this possible without major modifications?
What about the K6 4 in 4 mufflers? Do they fit?

thanks!

whats a side cap?

if you are talking plastic side covers - no, mounts are different.

If you are talking engine covers then they all should be pretty much the same anyway.

K7s have their own 4 into 4 design, what's wrong with those?

I don't understand this need to make the later K's look like the earlier ones. If you wanted an earlier K (69-76) why not just buy an earlier K bike? For the most part, about the only cosmetic things that will swap over from the earlier K bikes are the tank but it won't fit your seat. (the side covers, seat, etc are all different on the K7-K8 from the K0-K6 and won't fit wothout mods).

I'm with you Geeto, but the late pipes are pretty hard to find in good condition and Honda doesn't seem to make them any more.  They are sealed and most of the sets I have seen may look nice but have 3lbs of baffling rattling around inside.  You can use the earlier pipes but you will need to use the earlier exhaust spiggots, bolts and clamps as well.  They also may or may not line up with your stock exhaust mounts at the rear.

I did mean side covers
The reason for me asking this is that i found a K7 in my neighborhood for a reasonable price. Only thing is i like the looks of the earlier versions more.

If someone from Europe has a cheap K6 or an earlier version for restoration, i'm interested.
