I don't have pictures handy right now but, my 1st bike was a 56' Jawa Scooterette 50cc w/3sp trans.
Originally, it looked like a moped w/o pedals. My Dad stripped it down, redesigned the frame to mount the engine in it instead of under it, added 20" chrome bicycle fenders and a 56' BSA Bantam gas tank
and I was off and running (in fields & the backyard). My 2nd one was streetable and was a 125cc 58' Jawa that I had to build. My Grandfather & my Dad had a motorcycle shop with Jawa/CZ, BSA and Parilla franchised at that time (in the early to mid 60's). Anyway, I kept hounding my Dad for a real motorcycle
and finally he said, IF I graduated from the 7th grade, I would get one that summer. Well, I graduated
(BARELY), we went down to "the shop" and he said it's upstairs. Now, I've been going upstairs and messing around since I was old enough to be walking and I've never seen a motorcycle up there
(except an old Indian Scout and it was just a frame w/ forks and an engine, I knew it wasn't that one)
My Dad sent me back up those stairs at least 3 times, insisting "Yeah, it's up there, you just didn't look in the right place. When I came down for the 3rd time, He handed me a parts book and said "It's up
there, you just have to put it together! I just couldn't imagine a bunch of parts turning into a motorcycle. Just before the summer was up, I had built that motorcycle. I still have the 1st one. Bill

Another thread got me thinking. One of my ongoing projects here at home is to try and salvage old photos that are beginning to deteriorate badly, some exhibiting extreme color shifting. One a came across yesterday was one of my first bike a '69 CB350. I bought in '70. First bike and first and only wheels up (so far), due to my own stupidity of course. Wish I still had it, but I didn't fit it then and I doubt anything has changed in that department. Anyone else have shots of their first bike..no matter the make?

My first Bike was a 1956 Jawa.  http://www.jawamania.cz/modules/news/1956.jpg

Bill, you still have an Indian Scout?! Pix, please!

 Uncle Ernie,

I wish I had that Scout and all the other parts that were up stairs also. That Scout had a
history of it's own. It sat right by the doorway on the 2nd floor. You see (and I don't know for
sure when it started), we lived in North Little Rock Arkansas and the fair( which came in early
Oct) had one of those "Wall of Death (or whatever you would call it)" and they used the "101"
Scout. An agreement was reached with my Grandfather for them to leave one of their Scouts
(basically what they left was a frame with the 1/2 leaf spring type forks, engine and trans) with
him and trade it out with another one each year. When my Grandfather died in 68', I was in the
Air Force in Japan and my Dad had to sell what he could and junk what he couldn't sell. I have no
idea what happened to that Scout. Of course it was sad that my Grandfather passed away but
(to a lesser degree) I hate to think of those parts going to scrap.  Well, I gotta go,  Bill

My first bike was a 1977 CB550 purchased from a friend for $250 in 1994.  This same bike, now updated with a seat and tank from a 1978 CB550 and 550F pipes sits in my garage still.  I 'sold' it back to my friend, but he never took it away and we never changed titles; given that that was over 5 years ago and my friend lives out west somewhere, the bike's back in the fold.  As you can see, it is a bit dusty from lack of use.  A goal for this spring is to take the 77 and 78 550's and make one nice original K from them and then use the remaining bits to build out a 550 F-styled cafe bike.  I expect I'll sell the cafe bike and keep the K to go with my 75 750K and my Yamaha RD400.

  Hey guy,
The 58' 125 Jawa that I built was like yours except the shape of the engine and mine had the gearshift the doubled as the kickstarter. My engine wasn't as curved around the carburetor area.
Other than that, mine was like yours. Great little bike, not too fast but a pretty good runner and dependable.  I do have about a 67' 250 which looks similar in design.  Later on,  Bill

    Hey AZCB550F,

Back in about 68' I had a 66' 250 Hawk (CB72) and while mine didn't look as mean as
yours, it was a pretty good runner. I swapped the headlight and gauges for CB350 parts.
          then,
(like you) moved the footrests to the rear position and repositioned the gearshift which
          reversed
the pattern (didn't take too much to get used to because I came from a family owed
         motorcycle
shop that dealt with BSA, Royal Enfield and Jawa/CZs for starters. I had the side covers
chromed and painted the tank and fenders a Royal Blue. I swapped those heavy mufflers for
some long megaphones and built the engine with (CP77) Police model head (ported &
polished), cam and carbs (rejetted of course). Also, I found a seat that, when installed,
flowed flowed from the upper rear of the tank, dropped slowly down, went to the rear and
turned up at the back like a race seat. I could beat an average Super Hawk but a 67'
CB450 put me down. I was in Japan in the Air Force in this stage of my life. I gotta tell you
that was one nice running and looking bike. I've got a 64' Super Hawk that's in pretty bad
shape and somebody put a CA (Dream) engine in it.  I hope to bring this one back to life some
day. I' better go for now. Later on, Bill :) :)

My first bike was a 81 Yamaha PW 50 then a mint condition 77 Honda PC-50 moped [witch i still have and prob will never sell] my first ''Real'' motorcycle was a 73 CB 350-F I still got it too and a 74 Kawasaki KH 100E streetbike that i compleatly rebuilt and made into a dirtbike. I also have more or less 8 other bikes for part's and 2 for project's oldest being a 40 something BSA Goldstar 350.

1974 Suzuki T-500 Titan.  $400, rode it for a week and swapped it for number 1 of 3, 1978 cb 750F's.  Pre-digital cam era.  I've tried to buy it back from a buddy I sold it to, but it looks too good in his shop.

My first bike was a Honda XR 75. Got it for Christmas when I was in the 3rd grade. Will post a pic later if I can find it. I have some pics of my Dads old bikes on my Picturetrail site.

My first bike was a 1971 Honda CB450 with a six inch extended front end and flames on the gas tank - a real 1970's machine!!  I bought it from my older brother and sold it to my younger brother. Between the three of us, we managed to kill it.
