Topic: Limited Edition 1979 CB 750 SOHC

Can someone tell me more about this rare (? ) 750.

Sounds like they were available in certain parts of the world only.

They had a fairing. There is a photo of one in the Gallery.                                            My info is from "The Illustrated Motorcycle Legends Honda by Roy Bacon. It shows a picture of one but the info is very mimimal.

I have no info for you, but what page of the book are you looking at?  I'm flipping through my copy and I don't see it.

 The page is 39 for the photo. He refers to it on page 37 first paragraph and 2nd paragraph page 38. If you google CB 750ss and to www. motorcyclespecs, it shows 2 pics and more info. Cb750 F2 ss limited edition.

Yes the 79 Limited edition was a DOHC.  I remember seeing it in the showroom.

The OP is reffering to a SOHC made in 79.. but the gallery pic mentioned is not that.

 The 1979 SOHC CB750SS (F2) must of not been available in North America.  Not too many knew that Honda had a limited edition CB750SS model. I sure did not. I was sure I had the last year 750. Then several years back, I read Roy Bacon's book. He said that Honda had a Limited Edition CB.  On the gas tank it says HONDA  BRITAIN & it had a fairing. I would like to know more about them. Like are the serial numbers of frame & motor included in the service manuals list. Were they left overs that Honda could not get rid of ? Whats their history?

After doing more research, the Cb750ss is made by Colin Seeley ( Seeley Honda ).
 For Gallery photo search Seeley Honda or CB750SS. You can go to www.seeley.com & www.seeley-register.org

 Only 72 of the 302 chassis ever built have been registered at seeley-register.org

The web site states that there were 4 different versions of the Seeley chassis...and one for the F2/F3.
F3 hmm.
Still would like more info.

Quoting myself, my sarcasm was directed to the CB750 Custom limited. The Seeley, being a one-off like an Egli or Japauto CB, is quite collectible.

Whether it is the second most valuable CB is up to each one. In my list it would rate high, but definitely below second place.

The seeley Honda and the 750 ss are quite different, the seeley's were complete rolling custom built units you just dropped an engine in. The ss was a body kit and some extras he bolted to a stripped down stock bike. They are almost identical to PRR. They were the remaining units of 400 after Phil Read pulled the plug at 150. The remaining 250 were done in Honds Britain colours, 125 red and white, 125 blue and white. I have one.

Most of the Seeleys were "kits" with the frame, fuel tank, and seat tail section, and the buyer would supply the engine, wheels, and suspension bits from a donor bike, although some were supplied as a complete running bike.

I almost had it right 
The point is, the ss frames wouldn't be on the seeley list. The frame and engine numbers would just be random units at any dealership where one was ordered from...I think

I think the confusion has to do with the Honda Britain bikes origins.  These were not built by Honda.  They were brand new bikes that were built by Honda Britain.  Honda Britain was the UK distributor for Honda so they have a legitimacy that a dealership or home built special doesn't.  They were a UK only bike and not something Honda produced in a factory.  The Honda factory produced the Limited Edition DOHC 750 in 1979.
