Topic: Removing rear springs

Do I need to use a special tool to compress the rear springs before removing them?  Or can I just remove the rear wheel and then take them off?  The shop manual doesn't make it very clear.  They simply say to remove them.  I don't want a spring in my face or foot.

The shock assembly can be removed as a unit(s) without the spring compressor. A bolt at the bottom and a nut at the top and they come of. To remove the springs from the shock absorber.... that you might need a spring compressor for, but you have to take the shock assemblies off the bike first.

LOL, sorry. I should have said shocks instead of springs. But it sounds like I can just pull them off without getting shot in the face.

If you fancy living dangerously and are now upset at losing the thrill of dismantling your rear shocks - go to the front and undo that top nut on the fork leg.....stand well back tho'
