Well we did it. Since my boyfriend's VT1100's starterengine broke and it is quit expensive to replace (€ 500 to € 800) I told him to check out the local "eBay's". He was getting annoyed with the handling of the VT (groundclearance) anyway because he was taking my VFR750 out for rides as well.
He's been talking about doing a project after my 1976 CB750F is done so I thought he might as well look and see if he could find something for the amount of money a VT-starterengine might cost...
Found this 1978 Suzuki GS750 for € 250,--

He drove it back over 350km so mechanically it is fine. Just need to drop in a new battery for now and sort out some of the electrical work for the blinkers and he's set.
I just can't wait to take the GS and CB out together for some touring...

Congrats! Pretty impressive to find a bike that runs for~ $375. I had one for a year, and it was a good runner as well.

I had a '77 GS. It was my first 'big' bike. You'll both enjoy yours. Keep an eye on the charging circuit. Early Suzukis were renowned for electrical woes.

Just did an 81 GS650 GL - stator, rec/reg, battery all for $300 and about 2 hours labor. They aren't too bad to work on.

This weekend will be spend on testing the electrical circuits. I have now put in the old battery from my CB but it died and I don't know how reliable this is, but then again I don't know if it is being recharged. Thanks for the heads up nickjtc. Any other notorious problems you can think off??

None that I had with my bike. But then again it was only mine for three years and I didn't put a lot of kms under its wheels. I can say that it was the first bike I ever did an indicated 'ton' on. (Professional rider/closed course/your results may vary/think safety, preserve nature, always wear a helmet )
