Tank covers?
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:33:05 PM »
So somebody knocked my bike over and put a nice fat dent in the tank. I am so pissed. I never intended the CB550 to be concours--it's a great city bike that nobody messes with because it doesn't look fancy--but this dent is eating away at my mind. I really don't want to shell out for a new paintjob, but I just can't stand looking at the dent. I figure a leather tank cover might be the answer for me.

Anybody know where to get one? Google turns up nada.

Thanks,
J

I've never seen tank covers for these old bikes (even on eBay)

only Bagster-type covers for modern bikes.

Hmmmmm Tank Covers..... I like the idea!  Maybe different colors and/or designs on each side for "conflicting eyewitness reports"  ;)

You may have discovered an unmet need!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

you could always get an upholsterer to make one up easy enough, but failing that, if you know how to use a sewing machine try it yourself....
you`d have to use vinyl  instead of leather though and that could lead to rust on your tank
cheers
