K&N oil and cleaner usable on UNI Filters?

Is the K&N oil/cleaner usable  on the UNI Filers or is there some strange reason why it wouldn't be???

K&N cleaner ate my UNI filter, I don't know how old the filter was but the K&N cleaner destroyed it.... >:(
