Does anyone have any idea what those little green o-rings are in the the Athena gasket kit for the CB400F? I can't figure it out for the life of me. There are 8 of them, but I can't see how they would relate to the valves...

Anyone?

I believe they are for the valve guides if you remove them from the cylinder head.
I have also used them for the seal on the front brake caliper pivot pin.

I was just checking the parts diagram, I think you're right...I don't think I've ever had the guides out...so I was baffled by them last time around too. I should probably look into that.

My problem after my last rebuild was a lot of burning oil, so I suppose that could have contributed to the problem. I'll have to tear down the valve head again and make sure those suckers are in there.

Thanks!

Reminds of the girl who went to the doctor to complain about the little green rings on her inner thigh.  After a brief look, the doctor asked if she was dating a gypsy.  Odd question she thought, but as a matter of fact, she was.  The doctor's advise was, "Yes, well, tell him his earrings aren't real gold". ;D
