Help! Resurecting a 500 - Just Backfires
« on: April 26, 2008, 01:18:43 PM »
Hey Guys,

A garage find, trying to get started after many years.  Here is what I've done.  Cleaned carbs, tank, new plugs, static timing, re-set points.  It will not run, just back fires when I kick it over.

Suggestions please......

Thanks,

Paul

Are the yellow and blue wires from the points plate connected to the proper leads?

Did you remove the cam from the mechanical advance and perhaps install it 180 degress out?
