Cafe Progress pics
« on: April 28, 2008, 09:58:31 pm »
I'm a long time due for posting pics of my cafe project.  Some of the major things done:
1) Fab'd up tailpipe
2) Grafted K type fuel tank cap onto F type tank
3) Upholstered airtech fibreglass solo seat and fitted to bike
4) Fab'd an inner fender from aluminum
5) Moved electricals under the seat bump
6) Built my own rearsets from scratch!  minus the Buell footpegs

Here are the pics!

Yes, he will shift GP style now (upside down pattern).  Could I offer a suggestion?  Try flipping both levers on the brake side so that the rod is on the bottom instead of the top.  It should give you a little better brake control.  With them flipped, the rod is being pulled instead of pushed.  It should be a little stronger in that direction, less tendancy to warp under pressure.  If it doesn't make a difference you'll only be out the 5-10 min it takes to try it.

Yes, you're right, it would be more ideal that way, but I don't think I would have clearance with my tailpipe where it is.  Also, I can't flip the lever unless I put it on the other side of the bike... it's not a symmetrical part.  The rod is 1/4" stainless steel and only 4" long, making for a pretty large buckling force and the spherical rodend bearings ensure the force is applied axially.

looks good. I like the rear sets.  Mind if I ask where you got the parts for that set up?

Also wich exhaust is that? Thats the one I want and have not been able to find it.

Sweet build. I love the K cap on the F tank idea. DIYers are the best.
Keep up the good work!!
