CB350F Airbox

I'm restoring my '73 CB350F and the airbox keeps slipping off the carbs (particularly number 2 and 3)  I fix it up, get all the clamps as tight as they'll go, and then as soon as i even move the bike, they pop right off.  Any tips on fixing this?

I've always had the opposite problem.
Have you tried loosening the screw that holds the air box to the filter housing? You will need a long Phillips to get at it. Maybe someone pushed it back and never moved it forward again.

Is the other end of the tube all the way into the airbox?  If not, it will pull off the carbs easily.

I had this problem with the tank off as well.  The airbox is all the way into the filter, and there's nothing other than a sliding tube holding the airbox to the filter box.

Also adding air filters right on the carbs would fix the situation, but would it cause others?
as from another post?  (I realize its from a 550, just asking if it can be done with a 350/what are the potential problems)

jetting nightmares... or, as i like to think of them, all night PBR binges.   ;D

The four rubber pipes attached to the plastic airbox have a slight bend to them. If they are twisted upside down than they might be hard to keep on. There is a little rubber "nub" on these rubbers which should line up with a dot on the plastic box which indicates up. I don't have a pic, but if you look you'll see what I mean.

Matt, I was totally perplexed by the rubber nubs, i couldn't find them!  Then, when I took the airbox off, they stared me right in the face.


Guess I need a shop light  :P
