How to identify valuable parts?
« on: May 11, 2008, 04:54:16 PM »
We have all heard the stories about the valuable finds in the thrift store basements. Do such "finds" exist at a wrecking yard? Some people view all Japanese bikes as junk and may not know what they and there parts can be worth (sandcast). So if someone was at a wrecker, what parts could we be looking for and how do we know what they are? Are all sandcast parts valuable? What are the most common to find? Is it possible I have walked by a high ticket item a hundred times?

Its simple... just know the stuff you deal in..

I found a 30,s VL stub axle, wheel, and complete drum brake in the scrap yard.. and a 1926/7 peashooter trans and clutch.. made good money on them..

then there was the sandcast Honda I found...
