Dear diary: Did a bit of research on getting the stator rewound, looks like $350-$400.
Will put that on wishlist after shocks, seals and swing arm bushes.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Dear diary: By sheer chance today I was playing with a tire gauge in the shed and decided to run it over the bikes, Yikkees Clymer reccommends 28 psi front and rear, what have I got 15 psi front and 20 psi in rear!
Does anyone think this might have an effect on the bikes poor handling characteristics lately? ;D

maybe, but also, you should be filling to the spec of the TIRE not the manual.  The manual assumes you have the old dunlop 404s.

No Kit you've got them on right.  If you look at it, if you were to reverse them then the rear passenger wouldn't be able to get their feet on the pegs.

And they didn't need to cos there are no pillion pegs on the "P" models anyway?
Aussies eh, maybe they had some sheep (blonde shielas) to carry on the back baah baah ;)

Dear diary: After deciding that I should correct the pressure in the tires I am having all sorts of bother getting the right pressure chart.
I googled the Metzler site and looked at lots of tyres but they didn't have mine listed?
I'm running a 3.50-19 M/C 57H on the front and a 120/90-18 M/C 65H on the back.
I have yet to source a pressure chart I trust, the front has only 15 psi in it right now and 20 psi in the back.
Shopping tomorrow, require some extra wire connectors so I can hook the batteries of the 650 and partners 400 up to the trickle charger without removing battery.
Also need a toggle switch so I can switch off the pole light and front crashbar reds, have to run bike through for a WOF and reg this week and expect the testing station staff to get all huffy at me having them live ha ha. ;D
Removed the swingarm grease nipple extension which while a great idea sprang a leak in the small tube so I removed that and fitted a stock one.
Can't wait for a day off to test the charging circuit, will do a few hundred miles on that borrowed stator with headlight on and see what battery condition is when I stop riding. ;D ;D roll on Thursday.

Damn, just found all this on SINGAPORE BIKES site, it all adds up now....jez I'm dumb. :P

Pressures determine how your tyres deflect. The lower the pressure, the more the tyre will flex. That may make for a comfortable ride when you’re cruising in a straight line, but the tyre will flex too fast at speed and make your bike unstable. The bike will feel vague going into turns and feel like it’s going to tip into the corner suddenly. This is because the tyre isn’t " strong " enough and it’s literally buckling under you.

The bike will also feel wallowy through turns and it’ll weave under acceleration.

I went and bought a regulator for my air compressor, and hooked it to the air line I use for airing up tires, and have it set at roughly 35lbs of pressure.
I air my tires up every week just to be sure.

Airing up your tires gives MANY benefits...
Better MPG, better handling, and longer tire life.
going over the recommended PSI is good for MPG, but will wear your tire funny.

I've been wondering about tire pressure, too, but for my Spitfires.  my bike felt kinda weird and unbalanced, like it amplified the sensation of the panniers.  my tire pressure is at 36f/38r.  (spitfire max is 41) Bike felt way less squirrelly at 35/36... but is that a safe number?

I can't find any kind of table ANYWHERE either. :(

I've got the owner's manual and a repair manual at home, Kit.  I'll get you correct pressures.  IIRC it's something like 28 on the front and 32 in the rear.  I know it sounds low, I was surprised.

well, that's assuming you're running the original Dunlop 404s or something, I think.

The tire pressure for your particular tires *should* be on the sidewall of your tires.

My tires recommend 36 psi front, 42 rear with a maximum allowable load.
32/36 is what is recommended with normal load.

my recommended isn't on the sidewalls, just the max. :(
