Hello everyone
« on: May 28, 2008, 02:48:57 PM »
I just bought a 78 Honda CB550, I'll put up some pictures later. I'm from Pomona area, about to graduate from college. The bike was running good, but it died today on my way to work. I think it has something to do with the spark plugs, the wire might be bad. anyways Hello everyone.

Welcome.

Its rare to have all the plugs or caps or wires go bad...

Usually when one goes it just drops a cylinder and runs on three.

Welcome, Squiggly. If you don't get it running, you might want to post it as a question to the general forum.

Welcome.

In my experience, dieing suddenly is usually an electrical/ignition problem, likely upstream of the ignition system.  Ignition failures usually cause one or two cylinders to drop out, all four at once would be unusual.  Fuel problems will usually cause the bike to die slowly, ie performing poorly before it actually dies.

So, what were the circumstances?  Did it just shut down all of a sudden?  Were you ever able to restart it?

cheers
