Newbie in Kansas

Howdy!

I've been doing some searching for a couple of weeks for a good forumn community with helpful people and well, here I am!
I recently purchased a 1977 Honda CB750 four K sohc and I'm exicted to get into it. It will not be my first project, but it is my first bike and bike overhaul. I hope this will be a great experience and a reliable bike in the long run. I'll need help from you guys I'm sure!

Welcome.

Lot's of 750 guys here to help with that project.  Looks like you chose a good one to start with, there.

Did you want a bike without shocks?  You must have smooth roads there.  Or, pretty resilient backs!

I'm not sure why it was converted to a hardtail. I need to find an inexpensive set of shorty shocks for the rear, as I do like the stance down lower like that. I imagine that I'm not going to like the stiff ride haha. The roads in my county are nice, but as soon as I go across county lines it's pothole, pothole, p-p-p-puh-pothole. Thanks for the heads up though, it was one of the first things I asked. I'm going cafe with it so...I think I may ride it stock for a while until winter.

You know that lowering the back of the bike increases the front end trail.  This makes the bike more stable on the highway and slows the steering some.  I thought cafe bikers wanted the opposite?
 ???

I prefer them stock, myself.  But, the 750's can be "awkward" for the "inseam challenged".  ;D

second time in two days I've heard inseam challenged. haha. It's true. I'm only 5'8".
I'm really not looking to join the ton-up club, It's more of the something unique and that I did than, speeding around getting all hopped up on coffee. lol.  I actually did NOT know what you said about the suspension. I'm here to learn. I'm going to see how it handles now and try not to make any modifcations that would in anyway impair my safety. I know what you're thinking, " Well, what are you doing with a bike then?" I'll tell ya, haha, I'm cautious, not dead! hahaha
