IGNITION QUESTION FOR A 78 CB 750F
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:23:25 AM »
Trying to get her running and want to know do I need the ignition or can I bypass (for now) the ignition and cross the starter solenoid by the fuse block?

Dave

Any help appreciated!

Are you talking about the ignition switch or the starter button?  You need the ignition switch to turn on the electronics, or you can hotwire it.  If you're just talking about bypassing the starter button, then yes, all you need to do is bridge the terminals on the starter solenoid to engage the starter motor.  And when all else fails, you still have the kick-start.

You can unbolt the whole ignition switch, remove the lock cylinder and turn the switch by hand. I did that while waiting for my keys. You can see the two nuts that hold the cylinder in place if you look between the tach and speedo from underneath. Hope this helps.
