got a little work done this evening..

first I put 2 bolts and the angle iron for the engine stand on the top halve of the engine case to prevent the not baked engine paint from scratching up...

Then I put all the organs back in,making sure I had assemble grease on all the crank bearings etc. and some gasket maker around the seals...

After checking the transmission for shifting correctly and checking if everything was in there good,I put gasket maker on the other crank case and took special care not to put too much gasket maker around the spots in the picture below,close by the outer crank bearings,thus preventing gasket maker to squeeze out onto the bearing shells once torqued down and running the risk of plugging up a oil channel or orifice...

I also put a little gasket maker around the crank seal area. Might not be needed but I'm re-using the old seals so it couldn't hurt..(yes I know it's better to put new seals in,but money is tight.

)

Then on with the other halve.

All the bolts I had cleaned on a wire brush I have on my bench grinder before already and torqued them all down according to spec.... The primairy chain tensioner I had already bolted into the crank case halve with the spring un hooked.

The oil drain plug hole I have to heli-coil cause it was stripped by the PO and the bolt was hanging in there with teflon tape I found out when I tore the engine down.(didn't do an oil change on it myself yet)
Here a picture from the hole and the heli-coil beside it ,ready for tapping and installing of it..

I'm almost done with the bottom of the engine ,but due to un wanted visitors(friends on a mission to drink all my beer

) I didn't get to completely finish it but for some pictures pre view I put the oil pan and clutch cover on...

That's all I have for today....

Tomorrow I will zip up the rest of the bottom part and put her back on the engine stand for the top end assembly..

Still have to paint some top end parts and I'm working on the cylinder head,re-lapping the valves and doing a port polish on it....pictures of all that will follow....

oh,BTW I was looking at these plugs,on the bottom of the engine theres one on each side behind the crank..
I had them out and there is really nothing behind them,just a deep orfice that comes out behind the crankshaft...It's open in there,but I was wondering what the purpose of them would be....any one know..

Would they be for draining the main bearing area if you had like a major flood of gas or oil?
My Bro-in-law had an old Honda that had direct oil injection to the mains with a dry sump...no sh*t.
Honda Japan actually bought it and he shipped it over to them, pretty rare apparently.
Don't think they would set our bikes up on the "off chance" we needed to run dry sump.

By the way....farging impressed by your engine work, she's gonna be purty when ya finish.
You actually may have to dress a bit better yourself before you ride bike!

Might they be to allow for some kind of maintenance? Kind of like the tappet caps...

Man, that engine looks brand new! We're going to have to nominate this one again for BOTM when you're done... so keep taking pictures!

been really busy with other stuff.....meanwhile I did do some on the bike.......not much longer now.....
specially for Hush ,here is some welding.....

removed a bunch of tabs and stuff of the frame,no need for em any more...

Took some coil springs from an old lawn mower for under my seat.....

here is the mounting plate for the springs.

and here with the seat on it....springs are bolted to under the seat and just rest on that plate...

I'm more ahead then I'm showing here,but like to add them pic's at once so you know what I'm all doing,not giving it away right now....

those are oil galley plugs. they have to drill the oil passages from outside the motor, thos threaded plugs are there to cap off the spot where the drill went in.
