Rectifier
« on: June 29, 2008, 06:42:59 PM »
Hi,

I want to thank Texpert and everyone else on the forum for your help in fixing my rectifier problem.

The homemade rectifier really got my 350 twin going. It charges just fine and has improved performance greatly.

The only problem now is that it won't go much over 35-40 mph--it just flattens out.

I have good spark and a new battery, I'm wondering if the carb needs attention.

Thanks in advance.

A little more history, please.  Has it sat for a long time?

hi,

Yes, it has sat for a couple years while I tried to fix its problems. I've ridden it maybe 100 miles a year while testing it out. Previously it sat while I tried to find a coil for it--that took a year!

It has the coil now, and a rectifier, and new battery. I have the carb seal kits but I've waited to use them because I was fixing the ignition/charging problems.

Also, I rebuilt the top end of the engine. I replaced the rings and ground the valves, etc. It seemed to start right up, but next year(I finished it in Winter) it developed all these other problems. It's been driving me crazy thinking I messed up the rebuild, but the compression seems ok.
Thanks for your reponse.
