RK Chain Riveter Used on Cam Chain?
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:37:12 PM »
I have an RK chain breaker/riveter, and I'm finally getting around to ordering parts to rebuild the head to my CB750F, which includes a cam chain.  The RK is made for drive chains, but looks like it would do the cam chain.  Will it, or do I have to buy the $90 "cam" chain breaker?

If it's got the right "anvils" it'll be fine mate, the breaker/riveter kit I've got will do anything from a cam chain to a 530 drive chain. I did one on a new H/D cam chain in my K2 engine, (waste of time as it turned out as the engine had been rebuilt with a new cam chain and not used before the PO pulled it off the road) and my kit worked fine. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

G'Day Greg, mine's a Chinese knockoff of a good one, I found a few on EBay tonight, (I bought mine from a Lawn Mower shop in a country town a couple of years ago) this one looks pretty much like mine.

I've since busted one of the pins, but that was my fault for trying to "multi-task" the tool against it's design criteria, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
