« on: July 01, 2008, 06:16:48 AM »
A friend of mine is considering this bike:

A mid 80s KZ1000 - does anyone know of any problems/issues with this bike or general opinion on it.

thanks!
Andy

A stone axe reliable bike, if well maintained, with a bit of pep as needed....hence the reason that Highway Patrol forces bought them. I would check the efficacy of the electrical system and that the consumables are as described. If that is your friends cup o' tea then he should go for it.

...Can be an electrical nightmare! When the police cut off all of their cool accessories they just leave the wires exposed. I have owned a kz1000p before and will never do it again. I couldn't get 400 miles between shorts and having the whole bike die. just my 2 cents. Great motor...

I always got lots of tickets on my KZ1000, but it wasn't a police model.
