New to the site, new to the bike
« on: July 03, 2008, 12:32:02 PM »
Well I just acquired a whole bucket of CB550.  Actually, two buckets and a truck bed load of various pieces.  I put the wheels on tonight to get a roller, and here's the beaut'.  Glad to know there may be a future for this piece with the help of the amazing site.  Keep up all the great work guys.

Welcome.  Mmmm, liking those wheels.  You know, they go for probably more than you paid for the lot.  I wonder how they(and that drilled rotor -looks like dual disks at that) ended up in pieces.  Must have been a project someone started and didn't finish.

The wheels are stamped Kawasaki.  I preferred spokes at first, but they're really growing on me.  It was complete and running this time last year.  The guy that had it dissassembled it to turn it into a chopper, but once apart, he never did anything else.

Awww, I thought they were Lester wheels.  Scratch that comment about their value.  Still cool looking.

I acquired another 550 this weekend and swapped parts amongst the two until I got things a little more how I wanted them.  I'm still going to build a tiny seat and remove some things from the headlight area.  The bars are from my dirtbike and give a great riding position. Enjoy!!

The wheels are stamped Kawasaki.

Kawasaki made good Lester-lookalike wheels for the Z400 which can be fitted to our bikes:
