New guy from MA
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:48:41 PM »
Hello, my name is Dan and I just bought a 1978 cb550K. I was pleasantly surprised to see an entire online community devoted to these bikes. So far this site has helped me get it started, and Im sure I can find all the info i need to getting it street ready too. I plan on taking pics of my bike and posting them later.

Welcome from Maine.

You should check out the New England Honda Guys forum as well.  We're all members here but get together for rides and SOHC nonsense.

I'm not sure of a parts place in your neck of the woods, but there's a good one in Auburn ME.

They ship too.

Here's a thread with pictures from my visit...http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=33195.0

Hey PJ...There was a place in Fitchburg I think...Skycycle maybe...something like that. I've never been there and don't know anything about them except that they are there...or maybe used to be? Then there's Rick's in NH which is supposed to be good but they haven't answered my recent email about parts. Sadly, I've found the best parts source to be the internet whether it's from a forum member, auction, dealer, swap meet or possibly the best option...another enthusiast. Maybe sadly isn't the right word because if it weren't for the internet and this forum my bike would most likely be a pile of rusting parts in a junkyard that doesn't answer your email about parts requests. ::)

Check out the NE Honda site. There's a bunch of NE guys that try to get together monthly to shoot the #$%*, plan rides and heap piles of crap on one another. We also try to help each other with problems...

I just registered with the NE forum last night, Ill be sure to check there too. I agree the internet is a wonderful place, but there is nothing like going to a junkyard and finding just what you need. Besides those pics of the place in auburn look like a wet dream for anyone thats apart of this forum.

I just signed up the other day and there's an option described..."But there's also a useful link ('Did you miss your activation email?') in the User Info box in case you miss this email or mistype your email address."

It might be worth another try and if it list you as already registered try contacting one of the big shots?

S-Dog(Scott) is the administrator of that forum and a member here. I'd contact him directly if you're having problems registering
