75 CB750, new aftermarket (read as cheap) coils, bike runs fine but one of the coils is always hot. The hot one is actually starting to melt. The other coil seems fine. Possible causes? Thanks.

hi
try swapping the wiring from coil to coil if the hot one dosent keep cool and the outher one get hot you have a faulty coil check the coil resistance of them both should be the same give or take if the heat moves its on the bike somewhere

Don't forget to swap points cables AND plug cables. If after the change is the other coil the one that gets hot, I would say you have to adjust the points to change your dwell, that is, the degrees that the coil is energized.
