APE Stud Inserter
« on: July 09, 2008, 01:41:27 PM »
I have a cautionary tale for anyone wanting to buy a specialty tool from APE. I know that they produce great stuff, but when you call one of their sales persons and they run trough what tools you might need when purchasing HD Studs. They will suggest a Stud extractor (they are out of stock) and a Stub Installer to compliment your HD Stud purchase.

Okay I received and took the tool out of the bluster pack to "play" with the interface and to see what was so special with the tool. Looked at the ball bearing captured inside to prevent a pressure lock with the threads. Neat, then lets see them work on a stud. Well to my surprise they are two different sizes!!!!???

And I can not return the tool because it is out of the original packaging... Does anyone what stud inserter for a 10mm stud?

Scott

Send a PM to the owner Jay, he's a member of this forum.
I would think if they sent you the wrong inserter it would be up to them to send you the right one.

Okay I received an email stating that they might of miss described their return policy. So the 10mm inserter is going back! And I am sorry to say that they do not make a 8mm inserter. So since I have time with my piston ring problem I will have one made for the 8mm studs!

My APE HD Studs look GREAT!!!

I started a new thread here about a 8mm stud inserter that I am putting together with parts from McMaster-Carr.
