Doing it Right When BAD thngs happen.
« on: July 13, 2008, 12:02:24 PM »
I know I should be providing a link, but this can be found on nedthetoothpick.com , in the motorcycle section  on a thread called Jesse's Thread.

Anyway the condensed version,

A fellow member of that forum WydeGlyde lives in Calgary AB. He has a weekend job as a motorcycle training instructor as do  a few others over there. He is a very commited rider having only had about 2 or 3 months that he has not ridden out of the last 5 years and that is in Alberta.

Anyway a few weeks back he started a thread that his grandson was seriously injured in a bike accident.. I had a real bad feeling on that and  the result was he did not make it. Which was very sad as I know him, the grandfather.

However the tragedy took a few turns, he was a very bright 18 yr old that was working at a H-D dealership, his 2nd in fact. He must have really made a huge impact on those he met as those that knew him did things up in a major way and really did him justice at his funeral. It was truly amazing the way even law enforcement helped out and provided an escort.

it is all documented with pics on the thread over at neds. I was a bit worried about the effect it would have on Wyde and his comittment to teaching motorcycle safety. But he posted on there that he had taught his first class since it happened, and that he has now got an even stronger reason to teach those skills, and he is still riding.

So I have to say Kudos tho him, his family and all the support shown to the young man that had way to short a life..

I just hope that not many of us will have to go through this... :(

He sounds like a great bloke.
He has done his grandson honour with his decision to keep teaching the safety courses.
Maybe his teaching will save a few lives.
