« on: July 24, 2008, 02:48:36 PM »
::) ::)OK here's the question every one knows but me! I have a 1977 750k stock which carbs are better? 77-78 type
or older 73-76??? I am running the 77's but I have a set of 76's on the bench, which ones will give better performance?
Any suggestion on jetting or at least a starting point.

Any opinions? It's hard to believe I can't start an argument or a discussion with this one ;)

I also have a 77 K bike.  I put the old style carbs on my bike and it was a day night change.  It ran so good I had to put a dual disk setup on it because I got to the stop sign at the end my block to quick!.  I'm running 115 jets because the 120's seemed to fat.  Other than buying new throttle cables and boots ect. I'm happy.  Hope this helps.

Let's see...
The 77-78 carbs have 28mm venturi.
The 76 and earlier carbs have 28mm venturi.

Properly jetted/adjusted, they deliver the same performance.

If you want better economy and still be able to snap the throttle open from idle for predictable accelleration, the 77-78 carb give better "performance", due to having an accelerator pump.

Tuning parts are easier to obtain for the earlier carbs.
